SDS Optic S.A. starts collaboration with ACCREA MEDICAL ROBOTICS Sp. z o.o. and MedApp S.A.
September 12, 2025
SDS Optic S.A., a company developing the inPROBE® fiber-optic biosensor for molecular biomarker detection in oncology, has announced a new collaboration with ACCREA MEDICAL ROBOTICS Sp. z o.o. and MedApp S.A. The partnership will evaluate the compatibility of their technologies and explore how they can be combined to create an innovative tool for precise tissue biopsy and molecular analysis.
At the beginning of 2025, SDS Optic announced updates to selected elements of its strategy. Today’s announcement of the collaboration with ACCREA and MedApp marks another step toward exploring new technological potential and, ultimately, the possible development of a new medical device (proof of concept) with commercial applications extending beyond a single type of cancer. As part of a pilot project, the technologies of the three companies will be combined to assess the possibility of developing a robotic tool capable of performing precise tissue biopsies along with molecular analysis, both in vivo and in vitro.
"The pilot experiment we are starting is the result of intense work and a close dialogue with our new Partners. Accrea and MedApp are companies that have created very innovative products. We identified their technologies as potentially complementary solutions that can enhance inPROBE® with functionalities necessary in medical procedures used in the diagnosis of multiple cancers. Where manual tissue sampling is today difficult or impossible, our combined solution can open new clinical possibilities, as well as increase the commercial potential and future monetization potential of the original technology. I believe that the knowledge and experience of the three teams from seemingly different areas will allow us to effectively implement the work and efficiently verify the compatibility of our technologies." – says Marcin Staniszewski, CEO of SDS Optic S.A.
In the coming weeks, a proof of concept experiment will be conducted on a live animal model, involving precise tissue biopsy and molecular analysis using the inPROBE® microsensor. The procedure will be supported by robotic solutions from Accrea and extended reality and 3D modeling technologies from MedApp.
"Diagnosing hard-to-reach lesions in the human body is one of the greatest challenges of modern medicine. Our solution is a robotic arm designed for the precise guidance of biopsy instruments. Collaboration with SDS Optic enables us to combine our expertise and create a solution that, according to our market research, may be unique on a global scale. Precise navigation to a targeted area of the body - supported by 3D and AR visualization as well as real-time inPROBE® molecular test results - can significantly improve patient safety, shorten time to diagnosis, and streamline the diagnostic pathway." – states Bartłomiej Stańczyk, CEO of ACCREA Medical Robotics.
Under the agreements, if the experiment confirms the possibility of integrating the solutions, the parties plan to begin joint work on the development and implementation of a new medical device.
Additional information about partners
SDS Optic S.A. (NewConnect: SDS) is an innovative biotechnology company developing a breakthrough diagnostic technology that combines molecular biology, immunochemistry, medicine, and photonics. The company’s flagship solution is the inPROBE® platform – a micrometric fiber-optic biosensor designed to enable the detection of cancer biomarkers, such as HER2, as well as other molecules directly in patient tissue. SDS Optic has initiated research on the use of inPROBE® technology during breast cancer biopsies and in combination with endoscopic techniques for gastric cancer. Studies conducted to date have confirmed the potential of the inPROBE®microsensor in detecting the HER2 biomarker in both in-vivo and in-vitro procedures.
MedApp S.A. (NewConnect: MDA) is a company developing software technologies that support imaging diagnostics and next-generation digital medicine. The MedApp team combines the expertise and experience of software engineers, physicians, and scientists.
ACCREA MEDICAL ROBOTICS Sp. z o.o. is a company specializing in robotics and control systems, with extensive experience in both domestic and international projects. The company offers a broad portfolio of medical robotic systems based on advanced mechatronic technologies and software.
